Heat Vision and Jack

This past year went by ridiculously fast, especially considering that I didn't have a job for the first 8 months of it. We signed the new lease and Jim will be moving in around mid-August. Sadly Ali is moving back to CT but I'm assuming he'll be here often anyways.

You should try to watch this TV Pilot that Ben Stiller created with Jack Black and Owen Wilson. I only got about a forth of the way through.

I spent my day figuring out my work's shipping taxes for every town and county in new york today (I don't even do my own taxes). They've somewhat forced me into this new position at work, but it'll be a more steady work schedule and I'll get in and out much earlier now, which will be nice as well. This way I can focus a lot more time on band stuff, which work as of late hasn't allowed me to do. Plus they're paying me more, so I can't complain.

I spent a little bit of my "bonus tax package", so I guess the idea behind it is working? Bought some new clothes, which is always nice (although I will most likely wear them everyday for the next couple months, thats how I roll son). I've lost 25 lbs since January, so most of my old clothing hasn't been fitting me right, and I felt like I was back in middle school, when I went through that southpole stage of my life, thank you JC Penny.

Anyways, things are pretty cool. The Daily Chorus just wrote a review for our new CD so I was excited about that all day, and my most amazing friends ever are starting to help Pete and I with contacts and getting our act together so we can really dive into all of this. I hate asking people for help, especially friends for my band stuff, I can't really explain it, but it makes me feel selfish. I need to work on that.

Jamie and Mark were in the city interviewing for jobs today. They came over afterwards and we got some drinks across the street an Northeast Kingdom. They'll be moving down here in the coming weeks, which is crazy, since pretty much everyone I knew from CT will now be living in NYC soon.

I remember hating this city on my first couple visits. It was too loud and there were too many people, granted I had only really been to times square and I was probably also driving a van and trailer, but I like it a lot here. It's starting to actually feel like home. I mean CT will always be home to me, but I'm glad that I can feel comfortable here now, and actually socialize. I haven't felt this relaxed and open for too long. It's nice.

I'm also looking forward to going back to CT for the weekend. I haven't been home for a couple of months, and its a really nice pace to get swept back into. I'll most likely be moving back within the next couple years if all goes according to plan... or if things go according to plan and then some I could probably afford to be out touring and live in the city. So we'll see.

Here's to the present and for whats to come.

I dislike that fathers day is this weird and awkward day for me now. It just borders on uncomfortable for me when people ask about it. I feel weird even making a phone call to say "happy father's day". Life.

In lighter news, my tax rebate came in and I'm going to buy so many new party vests. Watch out.

My friends in the band Lorien came up from Nashville this weekend to play a showcase for Universal/Motown. I missed their set because of work, but they said things went well, and I showed up to a room of label reps and people complimenting them on their set.

This was the second time I've hung out with the guys (and girl) and it was an awesome time to say the least. I can easily consider them great friends even in such a short time. We headed out to Hanger Bar after the show last night for the Stolen Transmission party where Jiscilla, Erica, and the rest of the girls were hanging out. Good times, with good friends.

Anyways, check out Lorien's music over at their myspace page, they're currently self-recording a new album, and from what I've heard so far, it sounds amazing.

Trainwreck Hockey

Went to trainwreck last night and had a awesome time with awesome friends. That group is quickly becoming a favorite of mine . We watched some awesome dude drunk-dance for such a long time, and then we got some Mexican food.

Tonight was the final game of the Hockey season.

I'm not that much of a sports fan, but I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this years Stanley Cup series. Hockey is awesome, it may be the Canadian blood flowing through me... but it's a pretty ridiculous sport, and I have a new found respect for it.

I think I just like to see people getting shoved into walls... and the announcer who is stuck between the two benches in a tiny and hilarious box. Whenever he talks, the camera men always do a long and dramatic zoom in on him.

I also like being at the bars and hearing dudes behind us talk about how often they think athletes get laid, and that they wish they themselves were 6'4. Here's to next years playoffs.

Everyone is doing it...

Yep.

I started a blog mainly because Jim started one... I'm a follower, what can I say? We have a blog for the band, but I'd rather have a place for more personal writings. Anyways, things are going to be pretty busy over the next few weeks (hopefully years) with band stuff. We're beginning to put together kits for labels and press. Luckily we have made a lot of great friends over the past few years who (whom?) are willing to help us out with contacts and business moves. To say the least, we have some pretty big and fun plans for ourselves.

Along with getting the kits out and working the rounds with contacts at labels, Pete and I are going to be starting a non-profit company called "Bring Back Recess". We haven't talked about it all that much since we're still in the beginning stages, but we're hoping it will be awesome. Justin and Pete Panciera are going to be helping us with some designs, and then we'll be using the band as the launching platform. We have a song titled Bring Back Recess, and that's mainly where this idea is coming from (mainly via Pete). We want the company to be a collective of artists and friends who all support this movement. It will basically be a t-shirt company and all of the proceeds will be going to the Boys and Girls Club (get it? bring back recess....helping... kids...).

So yeah, there is a lot in the works that I am excited about, and things with the band have been going as well as I could ask for, everyone has been really positive and helpful. Life tends to throw us a curve ball every now and then, and I'm hoping that my polar opposite of last year is soon to come.
